Nothing says ‘Valentine’s Day’ more than two super-powered, scantily-clad women colliding thousands of feet in the air, with arms and legs (and bees) entwined, before plummeting hundreds of miles per hour towards the surface of the earth and crashing with spectacular impact. Ooh. I know what you’re thinking, ‘could page 15 really be a sorority house pillow fight?’
Maybe.
Maybe not.
What I can guarantee however, is that this Thursday’s page will blow your mind.
Happy V-Day everyone (not ‘VD-Day’, that’s entirely different).
Millions of tiny poisonous insects vs. a woman who can fly
My money’s on the bugs.
What’s that red panel up in the top right?
Conceptual? Blood boiling, and a skull as a primal impression of the murderous intent of both women?
Those bugs would (ahem) be a significant part of the situation, there. (Grin.)
The red panel up top is most likely a storytelling beat added by Rove. It’s actually a really cool device. Mignola uses panels like these a lot to break up the flow of action sequences, and control pacing. See here: http://robot6.comicbookresources.com/2012/02/your-wednesday-sequence-41-mike-mignola/
